“The St. Olaf swim and dive teams of the 1990s are legendary far beyond our accolades in the MIAC and Division III national meets. We ran in tight circles while at Olaf and continue to have lasting friendships long after our days on the hill. The father-son duo coaching staff of Dave and Bob Hauck instilled in us the importance of hard work and discipline in the water, on the pool deck, in the classroom, and in our respective vocations. For many years the swim and dive team had an intramural softball team following our season. We weren’t great, but it was further proof that we wanted to stay together even out of the water. Hundreds of memories swirl like lightning bugs, firing all pleasant memories (except 4 x 400 IM sets in practice — those still bring tears).”
