New Hall, Townhouses, Boe House, Hospital
Looking way down the hill are the new residence hall and townhouses that were part of the recent Ole Avenue Project. In the residence hall there is a brand-new health center and counseling center. In fact, those services have always been located on this side of the hill. For a long time, the second president’s house on campus, called Boe House, which once stood on the north side of St. Olaf Avenue, served as the location for the college’s counseling center. The health center used to be a hospital located in a small house where Rolvaag Library now stands.
On the way…
Rolvaag Memorial Library was built in 1942 and has had 2 expansions over the years: one in 1966 and another in 1992. Down the hill behind the library is the Manitou Track and Football Field. It was built in 1930 and was originally made of gravel, but has since been surfaced in rubber. Porter Hall was built next to it in 1992 and houses a weight room and locker rooms. On the left is a small bulletin board that was a gift from the Class of 1934 and has stood in the same spot ever since.
